WADSWORTH — The Wadsworth Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify a person of interest involved in multiple thefts from area financial institutions.
A female subject was shown on security footage at two of the locations where the felony thefts occurred. She is believed to have multiple tattoos on her upper chest and on at least one of her hands (the left). She may be from another state, as she displayed a Wisconsin identification card during these incidents.
Anyone with information on this subject’s identity should contact the Wadsworth Police Department at (330) 334-1511. Refer to case 217-11-113. Wadsworth Police Lt. Dave Dorland said the incidents are theft-related and not robberies because the person of interest did not use force to commit the crimes.
“A robbery involves the use of force or the threat of force and in this case it was just a fraudulent transaction where they scammed the banks into giving them a cash advance on a credit card,” Dorland said. “It is still a felony-level theft offense.”
The financial institutions include two Medina County Federal Credit Union locations, 1353 Reimer Road, Wadsworth; and 3303 Medina Road, Medina, Two others were also hit, including Third Federal Savings & Loans in Twinsburg and Parma.
“The Third Federal in Parma is the one where (theft was) attempted and the manager caught on and refused to give them any money,” Dorland said.
