Joan Simmons, 79, of Seville, passed away suddenly after complications with a long term illness. She was born in Holly, West Virginia on September 1, 1938, to the late Lester and Fanny (Moats) Fisher.
Joan retired from Medina General after 15 years and then later went to work at Geig's Orchard in the cannery. She was a devoted Christian who taught Sunday school, a dedicated gardener, loved sewing and spent all the time she could with family.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Ronald (Kim), Roger (Diane), Carolyn (Jeff), Jimmy (Vicky); grandchildren, Jessica, Amber, Cody, Dakota, Hunter, Rebecca, Nicholas and Samantha; great-grandchild, Lucas; siblings, Waunita Brown (Clarence), Mable Hamrick (Wilson), Lonnie Fisher (Marilyn), Hazel Fisher, Glen Fisher (Donna); brother-in-law, David Anderson and many nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Oscar Simmons; son, Stanley Simmons; sister, Dessie Anderson and parents, Lester and Fanny Fisher, preceded her in death.
Family will receive friends and family Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 5 to 9 P.M. at Armstrong Funeral Home, 25 Pleasant St., Seville and a memorial service will be held Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 12:30 P.M., at the Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Rittman.
